Weekly Mind Dump 6-28

28 Jun

If last week I was amazed at what God was doing at theROCK, then consider me this week completely mind blown! Here’s a glimpse into what we saw happen over the weekend, and for all you ROCKers out there, it’s time you paused and just THANK GOD for what He’s doing. No way we’re taking credit for this stuff. Let’s dump the mind…

  • So we had a new venue this week at Robinson Middle School, and I think the overall census was… GET IT! We’re supposed to meet there one more week (July 3) and then we’re back at Johnson Elementary, but man the possibilities inside Robinson are amazing. We shall see what the future holds.
  • The volunteer teams this week were AWESOME! Man at 8:45am you could just feel the energy building as our teams turned Robinson Middle School into theROCKchurch. If you’re not on one of these teams… what are you waiting for? Join up!
  • Last week in my blog I explained how we had almost tripled in size over the last couple of months, really in a time when most church attendance starts to DROP because of summer. So honestly, I figured the attendance would definitely see a drop this week, considering we were moving locations and it’s right in the middle of June and all that stuff, but the attendance was GREAT!!  I was amazed.
  • Adding Trevor Hager to our team has been one of the biggest additions in theROCK’s history. And this Sunday was perhaps my favorite set list we’ve ever done! Check these songs out on YouTube or something. Wish we could get this on a CD. It was that good! But most importantly the Spirit was moving like crazy!
  1. You Are My Joy– David Crowder
  2. Like a Lion– David Crowder
  3. Glory– Jeff Deyo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTUy03kBULA)
  4. With Everything– Hillsong United
We continued our “Manly Men” series with some COMPETITION! This week it was a contest to see which guy could Hammer in 3 nails the quickest… The winner… Chris Krajeck!

The MAN of the day… Chris Krajeck
  •  So I tried to show a clip from Rocky 2 to open up my sermon on Sunday, but it made the computer crash, so in honor of that I have a special treat. And this also confirms what I said in Week 1 how my son Jackson is a little bit of a Rocky Balboa freak. Well check this out and you make the call…
  • So the message was called “The Wolfpack” and we challenged our guys to get involved in community. Get involved in each other’s lives and be sure you’re following the Alpha male in the wolfpack and that of course is Jesus.
  • Here’s the message for those of you who missed it… The Wolfpack
  • And you know the message really wasn’t even intended to be ultra evangelical in like a hardcore salvation message, but God just took that sucker a completely different direction, and we began to add to the number I gave last week… I said last week we’ve had at LEAST 17 people who have given their lives to Jesus Christ the last 2 months. SEVENTEEN. Well when I gave the challenge at the end of the message on Sunday… And I asked for those who were ready to REPENT and SURRENDER their lives to the cause of Jesus Christ. And there I saw ONE hand go up, then TWO, then THREE!  I saw THREE! And that’s Awesome! That means over 20 people have given their lives to Jesus Christ in the last two months at theROCK! But it wasn’t over…
  • We got to baptize right after the experience on Sunday and I was blown away! First of all we baptized 6 followers of Christ! And that never gets old! And we still have plenty more to go. But the bank at Warriors Path was filled with people who traveled from Robinson Middle School to see people get dunked for Jesus that is what it’s all about! Here’s a video to recap the experience via Jason Jackson…
  • After the baptism I was made aware that because of the lighting at Robinson, I missed one hand that went up during our challenge… Meaning not just 3 people gave their lives to Christ, but now there’s 4! Wow! 21 people in two months!
  • It couldn’t get much better than that could it?… Maybe it can. Already in a praise Jesus mood, for what I had seen Him do, I woke up on Monday morning excited about what He’d done, and looking forward to see what He had in store for the next weekend. But I found out He wasn’t through with last weekend. I received a Facebook message on Monday morning and here’s what it was about…
  • One of the awesome girls that we had the privilege to baptize got her husband to finally come out to listen to the “Manly Men” series and watch her be baptized. He hadn’t been to church in YEARS… and later after the experience he let her know, he too GAVE HIS LIFE TO JESUS CHRIST!… 1,2,3,4… 5! FIVE people became NEW CREATURES on Sunday June 26 at theROCKchurch.  That puts our total at 22!!!
  • Some people say “Well you shouldn’t count numbers…” WHAT??? That’s 22 people that were on a Highway to Hell, but TODAY they’re living for the cause of Jesus Christ and beginning on a journey to shake the world with the gospel of Jesus! I’m COUNTING THAT NUMBER ALL DAY!!! Heck yeah, I count numbers when it comes to lives being changed by the power of Christ!
  • Amazing day… We had ROCKin music, clips from Rocky and Chuck Norris…
  • And yes, even quotes from The Hangover to segway into the message (how many churches you going to hear that at?!)… Yes, maybe not always wise, but you know what? If just ONE of those people sitting out in that audience, opened their ears just for a second while I read a dumb Hangover quote, and that woke them up long enough to listen to what else I had to say… then by golly it was worth it! And I would do it again and again and again
  • Guys I admit I don’t know what all is going on? But we’re seeing something beginning to happen that we could only dream about in March of 2009 when theROCKchurch was formed. In His timing, God is beginning to show us what He’s capable of in this city. It’s exciting!
  • If you made it through this whole LONG blog and you haven’t checked out what’s going on at theROCK for yourself. Man, you’ve got to check this out! If you’re far from God right now, dude this is the place for you. We exist for you actually.
  • Again for those of you who are partners and volunteers at theROCKchurch, THANK YOU. And you’re dedication, and patience, and energy, and hard work, has not gone unnoticed. Every one of those TWENTY-TWO souls that have been re-born by the Spirit of God, every one of those you had a hand in seeing God change that life. For every diaper changed, every worship guide handed out, every smile given, every stage prop put up, every lesson taught in KidsROCK, ALL OF IT played a role in some one who walked into “church” far from God, but left FOREVER CHANGED by the power of Jesus Christ.
The best is yet to come…
